What We Offer
Disability Insurance
The definition of a disability may differ amongst the various insurance companies that offer it, but generally it will cover: prolonged sickness & disease, physical and mental disabilities, and pregnancy just to name a few. An elimination period must be met before any benefits are received.
There are typically two types of disability insurance plans available:
Short term disability insurance policies offer a worker a portion of their salary if they are unable to work for a short period—typically three to six months. Short term disability policies are typically offered through employer group plans but can be purchased individually. A portion of the benefits received may be taxed, if any premiums are paid by your employer.
Long term disability insurance offers a worker a portion of their salary if they are unable to work for a longer period—typically a period over six months and up to retirement age. Individual policies can be tailor fitted to your specific needs and allows for inflation protection, return of premium, and a small death benefit. Benefits are typically received tax-free.
